Professional Bytes: Caitlin Spaulding

Howdy from Nashville! I'm Caitlin Spaulding. Many of you may remember me from my work at Sycamore Video.  After graduating from ISU, I landed a position working as a Post-Production Assistant/Coordinator at CMT (Country Music Television) in Nashville, Tennessee.  This basically means I am the liaison between CMT Post and the producers, editors, and other clients.

My job is to handle the requests for encoding, duplication, digitizing, closed captioning, and other client services as well as handle any problems that may arise.   I am also in charge of purchasing tape stock and other office supplies that are needed for the department and reconciling our MasterCard every month. I pretty much try to help the department run as smoothly as possible.

Professional Tip:

As I am gaining experience in the professional field, I am learning that you need to be flexible.  There have been many times when people have expressed how much they appreciate me being flexible and working with them to make things happen.  Whether it be flexible with work hours, taking a half day instead of a full day off, or rearranging your schedule so that something that came in last minute can get done, it shows that you are willing to do what it takes to get the job done and employers respect that.

Greek Beat: Pi Kappa Alpha's Rent-A-Pike

Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity held Rent-A-Pike on February 2, 2012. This event was held in Dede 1 to raise money for Relay for Life. The members of Pike auctioned themselves off for four hours of community service to the highest bidder. Things like cleaning dorm rooms, doing laundry, and washing cars are just some popular chores that bidders ask the men to do. It’s a fun way to raise money for a good cause, and Pi Kappa Alpha raised a total of $1500 dollars for Relay For Life.

Internship Bytes: Drew Taylor Part 2

Hello from Houston! This is Drew Taylor with another edition of Internship Bytes.

As an intern I am responsible for a variety of duties at Live Nation Entertainment. These range from updating the online calender for our clients at with the latest shows being scheduled for the  the year, updating the calender for our clients with the latest shows being scheduled for the year, updating the online subscribers list for our weekly newsletter, as well as filing agreements between my supervisor and his clients for their package deal.

In addition to these tasks, I also keep track of some of our department's finances by continually updating a new computer program called the Book of Lists, which as the program's name suggests lists the most successful business men and women in the Houston area. I will be responsible for developing a list of individuals our department should target in our upcoming 2012 marketing campaign.

That's all for now! Be sure to check for my next post, where I will give you more information on my internship and provide you with more photographs from Houston!
