I am not a smoker. Since I was 14, though, I have worked in a restaraunt around smoking until it was banned in my hometown this January. Personally, I think that it has pros and cons. I don't think it's right to tell people how to dictate their lives and if they can or cannot smoke on campus. However, that being said, how many times have I walked behind a smoker on campus (not at a "smoking cabana") and had his or her smoke blowing in my face? Now that I haven't been around it since January, I am super sensitive to it and it gives me headaches and makes me feel nautious. Although we are outside, that does not mean that people like me, who choose not to smoke, aren't breathing in the fumes. If smokers actually followed the rules and smoked in areas they were supposed to, then I don't see why smoking should be banned.
