New to ISU: Mattea Garcia

Dr. Mattea Garcia is another fine addition to Indiana State Universities Department of Communication. Hailing originally from Burbank, Il a south-side suburb of Chicago. Garcia received her B.A. in Creative Writing and English Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. She also received her M.A. and Ph.D in Communication from U of I. Her dissertation entitled "Ask a Librarian: The profession, professional identities, and constitutive rhetoric of librarians" which examined how librarians make sense of their work as professionals and focused how they react in the face of stereotypes and misconceptions many may have of librarians. Garcia enjoys her colleagues in the Communication Department, though she would love to find true Chicago style pizza in Terre Haute. On behalf of Sycamore Video, we'd like to welcome Dr. Garcia to Indiana State.
